This book examines over 30 bathroom designs from around the world, each one designed by a notable architect and created especially for a specific residence.

For each bathroom there is an image of the whole house (placing it in context and providing a flavor of the general design style), images of the bathroom, and a floor plan showing its relation to the other spaces. Virginia McLeod has worked for a number of private practices in London and was also the editor of The Phaidon Atlas of Contemporary World Architecture. She currently works as a freelance writer and editor, specializing in contemporary architecture. She is the author of Detail in Contemporary Residential Architecture (2007), Detail in Contemporary Landscape Architecture and Detail in Contemporary Kitchen Design (both 2008).
